| Game Summary |
| In the first quarter, Washington was looking to run the Nets off their home floor, seemingly blocking everything that came inside the paint. The only thing that kept NJ in it early was their dominance on the defensive glass. They surged back in the second quarter, shooting nearly 80% from the field and scoring in bunches off defensive rebounds turned into fast breaks. In the end though, poor free throw shooting killed the Nets. They were able to slash to the hoop and get to the line, but they couldn't convert down the stretch, and Gilbert Arenas made them pay. He scored 40, and Antawn Jamison added another 20, abusing whomever the Nets tried to guard him with on the wings and the post. For New Jersey, it was all about using their size the pound it inside, with Elton Brand scoring 30. But it just wasn't enough tonight, and Washington gets out of NJ with a much-deserved road victory. |
